Ultrasonic thickness measurements of a pipeline based on a fieldprogrammable gate array (FPGA)
An ultrasonic thickness gauge and a wheel-style ultrasound probe have been designed according to the basic principles of ultrasound and field-programmable gate array (FPGA) technology. Software programming of the signal processing based on FPGA has also been realized. According to tests on a standard pipe with diameter of 139.7mm and thickness of 7.72mm, the system showed good reliability, strong anti-interference ability and high precision. The measurement error was less than 0.1mm.
