Photocatalytic degradation of the rhodamine B solution with titanium dioxide under visible-light irradiation

Abstract

Titanium dioxide has been used as the photocatalyst for the degradation of rhodamine B solution under visible-light irradiation. The catalyst dosage, the initial concentration of rhodamine B, the irradiation intensity and the irradiation time were found to be the important factors affecting the extent of decolorization. The optimum reaction conditions were as follows: concentration of rhodamine B of 10mg/L, dosage of TiO2 of 4.0g/L, irradiation time of 2.5h. Under these conditions, the extent of color removal reached as high as 99.2%.
