Preparation and properties of inorganic flake zincrich coatings

Abstract

Inorganic flake zincrich coatings have been prepared using potassium silicate as a film forming material and silica sol and alkoxysilanes as the main raw materials. A coating which contained 40% mass percent of zinc was shown to afford good cathodic protection and an excellent anticorrosion performance in salt spray testing. Furthermore, the adaptability of epoxy middle paste and inorganic flake zincrich coatings was satisfactory.
