A lot of existing equations for calculating the incipient fluidization velocity of particles vmf in a liquidsolid system falls into three categories. The first is based on the Ergun equation. The second is based on some other type of fluid dynamics, and the third is pure empirical. Judging by experimental data, the first category can be used in a wider range of Ar or Remf numbers. An equation proposed for a solidliquid fluidization system is of the Ergun type. However it has a higher accuracy over a wide range of Ar or Remf numbers, and has a unified form for spherical and nonspherical particles.
