Application of modified CaCO3 in silicon sealant

Abstract

In this study, CaCO3 nanoparticles were modified hydrophobically, forming a compound functional filler. The sedimentation experimental results show that the dispersion of nano-CaCO3 in an organic impregnant is improved markedly,the admixture viscosity decreases obviously and the mechanical properties of silicon sealant filled with modified nano-CaCO3 are also improved evidently. The tensile strength reached a maximum value for a addition of nano-CaCO3 up to 40% of silicon sealant. The tensile strength enhanced 300%.The rupture elongation increased 100%.
