Balancing methods for a flexible rotor system with initial bow fault of its rotor shaft were investigated theoretically and experimentally. For balancing the bow fault rotor, not only the quantity but also the balancing location of the balancing mass should be considered together to prevent the extra resonant caused by the balancing mass itself, for the initial bow mainly excites the first resonant amplitude. The method of adding an appropriate balancing mass on the rotor in the appropriate direction and location of the initial bow of the rotor shaft can be used to reduce the vibration of the double disk fault system effectively.
